MSFS 2024: SU7.1 Finalized, SU7.2 Beta Live, Poland World Update Released

Asobo and Microsoft pushed out the final version of Sim Update 7.1 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 last Friday. It is a small patch aimed at fixing bugs that SU7 introduced, including a problem that was cutting down aircraft drag by more than it should. If you had been noticing your planes feeling a bit too slippery since SU7, this is the fix for that.
Right after SU7.1 went out, the team opened the public beta for Sim Update 7.2. Anyone who opts into the beta program on Steam can grab it. Two test builds have gone out so far, one on October 23 and another on October 28, both labeled build 1.9.22.0 and 1.9.23.0 respectively. Full release notes for each are posted alongside the update.
World Update 23 adds Poland and the Baltics
The free World Update 23: Poland and the Baltics went live earlier this week. It comes with a Local Legend aircraft, the Antonov An-28, built by Andrei Tsvirenko of ATSimulations. This is official add-on content from the developer, not a community mod, so it installs and updates the same way as any other World Update.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 gets Sim Update 17 beta
Owners of the original Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) can now opt into the public beta for Sim Update 17 on both PC and Xbox Series X|S. Release notes for that test build are available through the official channels as well.
What this means if you run add-ons
SU7.2 is still in beta, so treat it like any pre-release build: it can change again before it goes final, and third-party add-ons built against SU7.1 may not behave the same way under it. If you rely on scenery, liveries, or aircraft mods for your daily flying, it is generally a good idea to hold off moving your main install to a beta branch until you have checked whether your add-ons still load correctly. Keeping a backup of your current install or add-on folder before switching branches is standard practice with any simulator update, not something unique to this patch.
Since World Update 23 and the An-28 are official free content, they should not conflict with your existing mods the way a core simulation patch might. Still, if you have any community tools that touch aircraft systems or flight models, it is worth checking them against SU7.1 now that it is out of beta.
Livestream coming in November
The developers confirmed a Developer Livestream is being prepared for broadcast on their official Twitch channel in November, with Jorg, Seb, and Martial on the panel. Players can submit questions ahead of time through the form linked in the announcement.
Based on the developer's announcement on Steam, 30 October 2026.
