AION 2 October 28 Update Nerfs Boss Damage, Adds New Hard Mode

NCSoft pushed a new patch for AION 2 on October 27 (PDT) / October 28 (CET), and most of it is aimed at making Expedition and Transcendence content less punishing while opening up a new Hard mode tier.
Boss Fights Get Toned Down
Normal Expedition and Transcendence Stage 1 bosses now hit 15% softer. Hard Expedition and Transcendence Stages 2 through 4 get both Boss Attack and Damage Boost cut by 10% from their previous values, and Transcendence Stages 1 and 2 see Boss HP trimmed by 6.5%. The developer’s stated goal is to cut down on characters dying in one hit at low progression and to reduce the number of groups hitting the enrage timer before a kill.
New Hard Mode Content and Rewards
Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island both get a Hard mode now, requiring item level 2700 to enter, with a 4-minute Frenzy timer and a hard cap of 3 revives per player. Clearing Hard mode can drop a Philosopher’s Stone: Revelation (Bound), and it’s also offered as a guaranteed pick. Players are guaranteed an Ariel Fragment tied to whichever dungeon they ran, plus a shot at an Expedition Hero Artwork and more Kina than Normal mode pays out. All Unique crafting materials, including Wrathful Mind, Wrathful Will and Wrathful Ego, now drop from these two dungeons on Hard. New Expedition (Hard) achievements are in too, some of which unlock Unique Skins. On the crafting side, Substance Morph now lets you turn 100 Ariel Fragments into a Daevanion Crystal: Ariel (Bound), capped at 30 conversions per character, or burn a single fragment into 5 Enhance Stones with no limit.
Class Buffs, Gear Progression and Economy Changes
Base HP at level 45 goes up across several classes to help them survive close-range boss fights. Gladiator and Templar jump from 4,702 to 6,202 HP, while Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Chanter and Cleric go from 4,702 to 5,702. A recovery skill’s cooldown drops from 90 to 60 seconds, and its HP effect scales up at levels 5, 10 and 20. Crafted Gear also gets a higher Amplify cap so it lines up better with Expedition Gear, and Tier 3 Expedition pieces can now transfer down into Tier 2 Crafted Gear, with Tier 2 to Tier 1 also enabled. A new Daily Dungeon called Odylium Repository is live, sharing entry counts with Daeva Bio-Research Base and paying out Soul Crystals based on clear score. The store sees an Instant Clear Ticket: Nightmare added at 30,000 Kina with a weekly cap of 14 per server, matching the existing Daily Dungeon ticket limit. Season mission rewards shifted too, swapping Abyss Points for Lower Abyss Rift Stone on the Land Grabs and Watcher Kaira missions. On top of that, a 28-day attendance event called Atreia’s Call started with this patch and runs until the maintenance before December 2, 2026, handing out things like Resurrection Spiritstones, Soul Codex: Reset, Battle Enhance Scrolls and an armor skin.
What This Means for Players
If you’ve been stuck wiping on Expedition or Transcendence bosses, these numbers should give you more breathing room, especially on classes that were getting one-shot before the HP bump. Anyone sitting on Ariel Fragments has a real use for them now through Substance Morph, so there’s no reason to hoard them past the conversion caps. If you’re running Crafted Gear, check whether your pieces now qualify for the higher Amplify cap or a tier transfer before you spend materials upgrading something that might get replaced. And if you’ve got leftover Lower Abyss Rift Stones or old Odyle Energy items from before the server transfer window closed, use or check them soon since some of those slots and sale options are being removed.
