The V3.4.0 Stable update for 7 Days to Die went live on Steam on 26 October 2026. The headline feature is a search bar for your backpack and containers, a welcome change once inventories get stuffed in the middle of a horde.

You can now type an item’s name or filter by category to dig through your loot without scrolling past forty stacks of scrap iron. There’s also a new way to get a drone back if it gets stuck or wanders off: you can ask a trader to recover it instead of writing it off.

What changed and what got fixed

Beyond the search feature, this build touches a handful of annoyances that had been piling up. The “boosted” icon no longer shows on items in multiplayer when nothing is actually boosted, and selling the 10th item from your hotbar works again.

Vehicle inventory scrollbars now account for installed storage mods (the in-game vehicle upgrades) properly, so you won’t see a scrollable list when there’s nothing left to scroll to. Shift-clicking items into dropped zombie bags and airdrops no longer throws errors, and missing block backgrounds in the backpack UI are back.

On the Mac side, the game launches again with Easy Anti-Cheat enabled, which had been broken. A rare bug that could lock players out after linking a Discord account has also been patched, along with a fix for the White River quest turn-in error.

Still being worked on

Two known issues remain open. The developer says they are actively looking into crashes in multiplayer games tied to shared quests that were started before V3.4.0. No fix timeline was given, just that more details will come once they have them.

Locked inventory slots also reset after you close your inventory, and a fix for that is currently in testing but not yet certified for release. A few smaller bugs are also still listed as open, including the Euthanizer perk triggering without working and issues consuming items directly from a campfire.

What this means if you run mods

Any inventory or UI mod is worth checking after this update, since the new search bar and filters sit on the same backpack and container screens those mods usually change. The developer also adjusted several in-game items to the new backpack capacity rules: the Night Stalker Vol. 4 book, Steroids, Chicken Nuggets and the bonus for completing the Fireman’s Almanac set. If you use a mod that enlarges the backpack or rearranges its layout, check that it still lines up with these changes before relying on it in a real game.

If you’re running a multiplayer server with mods and shared quests that predate this patch, it’s probably smart to hold off starting new ones until the crash issue the developer mentioned gets sorted. As always with inventory-related changes, back up your save before updating mods that touch storage, vehicles, or drones, since those are exactly the systems this patch adjusted.
