Warframe’s Tau System Expansion Arrives This December With New Warframe Brysko

Digital Extremes used an October 30, 2026 Steam post to confirm its next major Warframe update, due this December. The patch centers on a brand new region called the Tau System, sitting beyond the familiar Origin System star chart, plus a 67th Warframe to play as.
Brysko joins the roster
The new Warframe is Brysko, a noir-styled detective who patrols the ring city of Fornax. His inner monologue is voiced by Matt Mercer, and he comes with his own set of Abilities, a Hound Companion, and signature gear: the Rain & Shine Fist Weapons and the Corecracker Exalted Pistol.
Brysko also debuts a new premium customization category called the Chimera Skin. It works like a Protoframe, letting you switch between his normal Warframe look and a more Sentient-styled Chimera appearance, complete with its own voiced dialogue, whenever you want.
Tau System opens up two new worlds
December’s update expands the star chart into Tau, a region separate from the Origin System content players already have access to. Digital Extremes says Origin System missions and activities are not going away, Tau is an addition on top of what is already there.
Two locations launch with Tau: Fornax, the mob-controlled ring city where Brysko operates, and Perita, a desert world. Perita’s ecosystem collapsed into hostile badlands after the events of The Old Peace, leaving rival Dazannah clans fighting over scarce resources. The story introduces Catulast, son of the last surviving clan’s chieftain, who asks the Tenno for help despite their history as enemies. More Tau locations are planned for later updates, though no further specifics were given.
What this means for players
This is a straightforward live-service content drop rather than an engine overhaul, so there is nothing to back up locally before it lands. Warframe does not run on the kind of file-based mod support you would find in a single-player sim, so there is no mod compatibility list to check before updating.
Players just need to keep the client updated through Steam, or whichever platform they use, when the December patch goes live to get access to Brysko, Fornax, and Perita. If you use any third-party overlays or tools alongside Warframe, it is generally a good idea to check they still launch fine after any big content update, since UI and file structure changes can sometimes affect external tools even when there is no formal mod support involved.
