Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 kicks off its first full season on November 6, right after launch. The update lands at midnight ET on the 6th, which is 9 PM PT on November 5 for anyone on the West Coast. It covers Multiplayer, DMZ and global changes, while a separate post on November 2 will break down everything coming to Warzone.

Warzone itself gets two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac, plus the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Modern Warfare 4 content becomes fully integrated into the free-to-play side of the game as part of that rollout.

Multiplayer: New Maps and Modes

Season 1 brings more than six new maps. Backstab is a snowy, war torn town, Canyon is a sun-scorched map boxed in by rock walls, and Shoot House returns reimagined with a North Korean setting and light snowfall. Shipment, the small remastered harbor map, already went live on October 27 ahead of the season so players could start leveling weapons early.

Mid-season brings Ministry and Overflow, plus unnamed extra maps promised for the Season 1 Reloaded update. There is also a new Kill Block combo called Crash, a set of three static map slabs picked by Infinity Ward from the most popular combinations during the beta, and it shows up across several Core Multiplayer modes including Search and Destroy.

On modes, Infected arrived October 30 and Possession on October 29 as Halloween party modes. At launch, players get Grind back along with Drop Zone and Gauntlet 1v1, the last two tied to the Wager Match Event. More modes, including Counter Attack, are planned for mid-season. New weapons at launch include the CSG-35 SMG and the Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle, with the JAK 12 Shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon coming later in the season. Weapon Camo Events and a Squad Up Event round out the season’s live content.

DMZ: X01 Black Site

DMZ gets a new location called X01, a former Russian facility near Hajin now held by North Korean forces. It is described as a maze of tunnels, underground labs and a sealed Deep Vault, with Ghost handing out new Orders as squads push deeper in. Expect new equipment exclusive to the facility, tougher enemies, and extraction points that start closing off the farther you get.

The Forward Operating Base also picks up new stations, including a combined Battle Pass and Store Station, a Vendor for BlackCell DMZ Cash purchases, and a Boss Board tracking named Lieutenants and Commanders to hunt.

What This Means for Players

Modern Warfare 4 runs on anti-cheat and official matchmaking, so there is no community modding scene to worry about here. The practical thing to plan for is content rotation: new maps and modes show up on a schedule, weapons unlock as the season progresses, and DMZ loadouts built around X01 gear will need checking once extraction mechanics in that facility are live. If you want a head start on weapon ranks before the new maps hit, Shipment is already up and a reasonable place to grind.

Based on the developer's announcement on Steam, 28 October 2026.
