Manor Lords version 0.8.117 moved to the default branch on 31 October 2026, so everyone running the game now gets the full set of changes that were in that build. It touches farming, new buildings, development perks and a long list of AI and worker behavior fixes.

The two headline additions are the Fishmonger and the Dunghill. The Fishmonger is a new artisan building that turns Fish and Salt into Smoked Fish. The Dunghill is a new building where assigned Dung Collector families gather Dung from pasture animals and turn it into Fertilizer. Both Dung and Fertilizer can only be stored at the Dunghill itself.

Farming Got a Real Overhaul

Crops are now split into Winter and Spring types. Wheat and Rye are Winter crops but can be sown in Spring for a faster, smaller harvest. Flax, Barley and Oats can only be sown in Spring. Crop Rotation is now always on for every field, since the developer says leaving it off never gave any benefit.

Fertilizer from the Dunghill can boost a fallow field’s maximum fertility if applied during Summer, and it lasts just over two years. Unharvested crops left standing into October no longer force a rotation, they instead start dying slowly, which gives you a window to still salvage the field. The Field UI was also redone, with a 12 month timeline showing upcoming farming tasks.

New Perks and Upgrades

A new perk category called “Rural Foundations” unlocks at Settlement Level 3 with six perks tied to the new farming and animal systems, including dung collection bonuses, fishing and apiculture improvements, and crop protection effects. New building upgrades were added too, among them “Butcher’s Gantry” for the Butcher, “Cobbled Threshing Floor” for the Farmhouse, and “Stone-Lined Pit” for the Dunghill, each giving efficiency or production boosts. The “Born of the Alps” perk was adjusted so sheep no longer die at high elevation in Winter, replaced with a wool production bonus instead.

Smaller Fixes Worth Knowing

Animals in general no longer die from high elevation in Winter. Pasture breeding logic was rewritten so pregnancy only has a single chance per season instead of multiple rolls. Livestock now only move into buildings once construction is fully finished, and they need assigned workers present to be led. The AI governor also got a batch of tweaks, including earlier focus on trade goods, building multiple Hunting Camps near wild animal nodes, and buying upgrades like the Hunting Hound and Herb Garden sooner.

What This Means for Players Using Mods

Manor Lords has an active modding scene, and this update rewrites core systems around farming, fields, crop rotation and animal breeding. Mods that touch fields, crop timing, pastures or the AI governor are the ones most likely to need a look before you load them back in. As a general rule with updates like this, it is smart to back up your save before loading mods again, and to hold off on fully trusting a mod until its author confirms it works on 0.8.117. Mods that only change visuals or UI elements unrelated to farming and livestock are less likely to be affected, but it is still worth checking patch notes from the mod authors themselves.
