Farming Simulator 25’s first large expansion, Beans & Alpacas, arrives on 27 October 2026, three days after this post. GIANTS has been previewing it on the game’s Steam news page since August, and patch 1.25 on 20 October quietly laid some groundwork. Here is everything confirmed so far, and what mod users should expect from expansion week.

A new region: Catuaí

The expansion adds Catuaí, a South America-inspired map shaped by coffee plantations and red soil. GIANTS published a map preview on 21 October and a preview of its farmhouses, placeables and decorations on 15 October. It is a full map rather than an add-on to the existing ones, so it comes with its own economy, sell points and production chains.

New crops: coffee and bananas

Coffee is the headline crop, previewed in detail on 24 September, with plantations that need their own machines. Bananas were previewed as a crop on 25 August. Both are new fruit types for the game, which has a consequence for mods explained below.

Animals and wildlife

Alpacas can be led and sheared, and Brahman cattle are added as a new breed. Wild animals, including crocodiles and parrots, populate the map. Patch 1.25’s new animal workers, who can be hired to lead and shear alpacas and to ride and groom horses, were clearly built for this: alpaca care was the chore that stopped people keeping them, and a hired hand removes it just before the expansion makes alpacas central.

Machines, productions and a dinosaur

More than 25 new machines are included, among them vehicles from Colombo Industries, a brand new to the series. New productions make pigment and resin, new construction projects were previewed on 17 September (including a research station), and there is a system of discoveries to collect across the map. The 17 September preview also promised a dinosaur, which the fact sheets of 23 October did nothing to deny.

Editions and price

A Beans & Alpacas Edition bundles the base game with the expansion; the Xbox listing of the PC edition adds the MacDon Pack. Prices differ by platform and shop, so check your own store. Owners of the base game buy the expansion on its own.

What it means for mods

  1. Expect a patch with the expansion. Every FS expansion so far has shipped with a game update, and expansion patches touch more systems than a point release. Give your mod list the usual patch-day routine: start once with mods unticked, then enable in groups.
  2. New fruit types affect map mods. Coffee and bananas become part of the game’s crop list. Map mods that define their own fruit types or sell points usually keep working, but maps that hard-code the list of crops may not show the new ones until updated. Coffee will also need Catuaí’s climate, so do not expect it to grow on Riverbend Springs without a mod.
  3. Script mods are still digesting 1.24. The loadstring removal in September is the breakage you are most likely to meet on expansion day, not something new. Check for updates dated after 29 September.
  4. Colombo Industries machines will spawn mods. A new brand means new base models for modders to reskin and extend; expect them within weeks, and expect them to require the expansion.

Installing expansion-era mods

Nothing changes about the mechanics: zip into Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2025\mods, plain file name, tick it in the mod screen. What changes is the description you should read before downloading: a mod made for Catuaí will say so, and it will not load on a savegame that does not own the expansion.

We will publish the expansion’s changelog and its mod-compatibility notes when GIANTS releases them on 27 October.
