Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 just got its 23rd World Update, and this one covers ground the franchise has never touched before: Poland and the three Baltic States. The update went live on 26 October 2026 and it is free for everyone who owns the sim.

Poland is one of the bigger countries in Central Europe, with a mix of city skylines, river valleys, mountains, and a northern coastline on the Baltic Sea. North of it sit Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia in a row, each with its own look: Lithuania’s lakes and forests, Latvia’s wetlands and white sand beaches, and Estonia’s shoreline and Baltic islands dotted with small coastal towns.

What is actually in the update

World Update 23 adds 12 areas of interest across the region. Eight are in Poland, two in Lithuania, one in Latvia, and one in Estonia. These areas were rebuilt with updated photogrammetry, TIN surface texturing, and digital elevation model data, which together are what give the terrain and city blocks their shape and detail in the sim.

The developer worked with Bing Places, Asobo, and Gaya to put this together. That partnership structure is the same kind of pipeline Microsoft Flight Simulator has used for past regional world updates, pulling in mapping and terrain data to rebuild specific landmarks and cityscapes rather than the whole country at once.

How to get it

There is nothing to buy here. Make sure your simulator is running the latest version, then download World Update 23 through the in-sim content manager or Steam, and the 12 new areas will be ready to fly over.

What this means if you run mods

If you fly with scenery mods, liveries, or airport addons anywhere near Poland or the Baltics, treat this update the way you would any other World Update: check compatibility before you fly. A world update that touches terrain and ground textures can clash with third-party scenery that was built against the old version of the same area.

In general, add-ons that modify buildings, airports, or ground textures in the affected AOIs are the ones most likely to need a patch or a reinstall after a terrain update like this, while liveries and aircraft mods elsewhere are usually unaffected. If you have custom scenery installed around Warsaw, the Baltic coastline, or any of the other eight Polish AOIs, it is a good idea to back up your current setup before updating, so you can roll back quickly if something looks off after the patch.

Outside of that, this is a straightforward content drop: no new systems, no price tag, just new ground to fly over in a part of Europe the sim hadn’t modeled in detail before.

Based on the developer's announcement on Steam, 26 October 2026.
