Terms of Service

These terms apply to everyone who uses modsdrop.com. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use it. Last updated: 20 September 2026.

1. Who you are dealing with

modsdrop.com is run by Máté Geszti (CrashMozi), a private individual living in Hungary — not a company. Postal address: XVII. utca 4., 5400 Mezőtúr. Email: [email protected]. The servers and the files are in Germany and traffic passes through Cloudflare. You can write in English or in Hungarian. The ways to get in touch are on the Contact page.

2. What the service is

• modsdrop.com is a file host for video game mods: a page describing a mod, and a download button that serves the file.
• Uploading is not open to the public. At this stage the only person who puts files on the site is the operator. There are no user uploads, no comments and no public profiles. The only thing a visitor can send in is a report or a contact message.
• The site is new and still being built. Pages and features change, and parts of it may be incomplete or missing.
• Mods are made by third parties. Hosting a mod is not a statement that the operator wrote it, endorses it, or has tested it.

3. Free, and no account

• Downloading is free. There is no charge, no subscription and no paywall.
• You do not need an account and there is nothing to register for. You are not asked for your name, your email address or any other detail in order to download a file.
• You pay nothing and you sign up for nothing, so there is no subscription to cancel and no notice to give on either side. You may stop using the site whenever you like, and the operator may stop offering it — see section 10.

4. Download links

• Clicking Download creates a signed link to the file. The link is valid for six hours and then stops working.
• That link is for your own download. Do not republish it — not on forums, not in chat servers, not on other mod sites, and not embedded in launchers, apps or tools. Link to the file’s page on modsdrop.com instead; linking to pages is welcome.
• Up to four downloads may run at the same time from one IP address, and requests to the site are rate limited. Going past those limits will get you slowed down or temporarily blocked. The limits exist to keep the site standing, not to catch anyone out.
• No automated mass downloading. Do not use crawlers, scrapers, mirroring tools or scripts to pull the catalogue or the files in bulk, and do not rebuild the catalogue elsewhere. Ordinary browsing, and a download manager used normally, are fine.
• Do not forge, extend, brute-force or otherwise tamper with signed links, and do not try to reach files other than through the site.

5. Files, virus scanning, and what is not promised

• Some of the files here were carried over from crashmods.com and have a VirusTotal result recorded against them. That result is one of three things: clean at the time it was checked, too large to be scanned, or not scanned. Files that did not come from there have no scan result at all. The file page shows the true state for that file. It is not the case that every file here has been scanned, and the site does not pretend otherwise.
• A “clean” result means that at the moment of the check the engines used by VirusTotal reported nothing. It is not a guarantee, it is not a fresh check, and it says nothing about what a mod does once it is running.
• Mods are third-party software that modifies a game you own. They can crash the game, corrupt saved games, conflict with other mods and break after a game update. Back up your saves before installing anything.
• Use your own antivirus software. You install mods from this site at your own risk.

6. Content rules

The following have no place on modsdrop.com, whether posted by the operator or, in future, by anyone else:

• material that infringes copyright, trade marks or other rights, including reuploads of other people’s mods without permission and rips of paid or leaked content;
• game files, cracks, key generators, pirated builds, and tools whose purpose is to defeat technical protection measures or licensing;
• malware, miners, droppers, installers that bundle unwanted software, and archives that do something other than what the page says;
• content that is illegal under Hungarian or EU law, including child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, and incitement to hatred or violence;
• other people’s personal data; and
• material whose purpose is to harass or defame a particular person.

If the operator learns of something that suggests a criminal offence involving a threat to someone’s life or safety has happened, is happening or is likely to happen, he will pass it to the competent authorities. Article 18 of the Digital Services Act puts that duty on hosting services that store other people’s content; the site does not store anyone else’s content yet, but he will do it either way.

7. Game names, trade marks and affiliation

Game titles, studio and publisher names, logos, box art, screenshots and in-game assets belong to their respective owners and appear here only to identify which game a mod is for. modsdrop.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to any game publisher or developer. No claim is made to anyone else’s marks. If you own a mark used on the site and object to how it appears, see the Copyright and content complaints page.

8. Reporting content

Every file page carries a report link. Copyright complaints and reports of other illegal content go through the Copyright and content complaints page. Anything else goes through the Contact page.

• What a report stores: the reason you pick, your message (up to 4000 characters), your email address if you give one, and the IP address you sent it from.
• On the report form on a file page the email address is optional. Leave it blank and there is no way to reply to you, so you will hear nothing back. On the Contact form and on the copyright complaint form an email address is required, for the same reason.
• Reports are saved on the site as private entries that only the operator can see, and are emailed to him through Brevo, an email provider in the EU. The Privacy Policy explains what is kept and for how long.
• The complaints page sits at /dmca/ because that is the word people search for. The operator is in the EU and has not registered a designated agent with the US Copyright Office, so he does not claim the US DMCA safe harbour. Notices are handled under Hungarian and EU law.

9. Removing content and restricting access

• The operator may remove or restrict access to any file or page — because of a valid notice, an order from an authority, a breach of these terms, or because he no longer wishes to host it. It is his site and his bandwidth.
• Removal means the file’s page is taken down, and that kills the download link with it — including a signed link that was already issued and still inside its six hours.
• The operator may block or throttle an IP address or range that is abusing the site, for instance by ignoring the download limits or by scraping.
• At the moment nobody but the operator puts content on the site, so there is nobody else to give a statement of reasons to when something comes down. When uploading opens, an uploader whose content is removed or restricted will get a statement of reasons and a way to challenge the decision — see section 15 and the Copyright and content complaints page.

10. Availability

The site is offered as it stands, free of charge, with no promise that it will be available at any particular time, that downloads will run at any particular speed, or that it will continue to exist. Maintenance, technical failures, and hosting or network problems may make it unavailable without notice, and the operator may change or close the service. Nothing here obliges him to keep a file online, or to keep a copy of it, for any length of time. Keep your own copy of anything you care about.

11. Cookies, analytics and advertising

• As things stand the site sets no cookies for visitors who are not logged in, and runs no analytics of any kind — no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, nothing. Cookies are set only for the operator when he logs in.
• There is no consent banner, because at the moment there is nothing to ask you to consent to.
• There are no adverts yet. The plan is to join an established advertising network later. Adverts bring cookies and similar technologies with them, and the intention is to let that network’s own consent tool ask you first, rather than build a second banner of the site’s own.
• The Privacy Policy sets out what happens to your data, including the IP addresses that appear in the server logs and the salted hashes used for the download limits. It will be updated before advertising goes live.

12. Liability

• What is never excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for damage to human life, bodily integrity or health, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your mandatory rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live are unaffected by anything written here.
• What is excluded. Beyond that, and so far as the law allows for a service supplied free of charge, the operator is not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site or of files obtained through it — in particular damaged or lost saved games, lost data or time, damage caused by third-party mods to your software or hardware, lost profit, or the site being unavailable.
• Third-party material. The operator is not responsible for what third-party mods do, nor for the content of external sites linked from here.
• No professional advice. Installation notes on the site are informal guidance, not a promise that a mod will work with your setup.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms will change — when uploading opens, for example, or when advertising starts. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. There is no mailing list and no account, so there is no way to tell you personally: if it matters to you, check this page. If you do not agree with a change, stop using the site; there is nothing to cancel.

14. Law, courts and complaints

• These terms, and any dispute arising out of them, are governed by Hungarian law.
• The operator is a private individual and charges nothing, so it is not settled that consumer law applies to this site at all. Where it does apply, it wins: the choice of Hungarian law does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you habitually live, you may bring proceedings either in the courts of the country where you live or in Hungary as you prefer, and the operator may bring proceedings against you only in the courts of the country where you live.
• Free consumer dispute schemes are built for disputes with businesses, so they may not be open against a private individual. If consumer law does apply here, a Hungarian consumer can ask the conciliation body (békéltető testület) for their county whether it will take the case, and a consumer elsewhere in the EU can ask the European Consumer Centre in their own country. Neither of those is the operator’s to promise, so neither is promised here. The European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform closed in July 2025, so there is no longer an EU-wide ODR website to use.
• If you disagree with a decision to remove or restrict something, write to the operator through the Copyright and content complaints page. That page says what he does with such a complaint.

15. What changes when uploading opens

Public uploading is planned but not open. Before anyone can upload, these terms will be extended and the new version published here in advance. It will cover at least:

• accounts: who may register, and the minimum age;
• a warranty from the uploader that they hold the rights to what they upload or have the author’s permission, and a licence to the operator to host, display and distribute it through the site;
• that the uploader, not the operator, is responsible for what they upload;
• notice and action, statements of reasons, and a route for an uploader to challenge a decision — which from that point apply as a matter of law rather than by choice, because the site will then be storing other people’s content and will be a hosting service in the full sense of the Digital Services Act;
• a policy on repeat infringers and on abusive notices; and
• rules on scanning, on moderation before or after publication, and on what happens to a user’s files if the account is closed.

16. The rest

• If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest continues to apply.
• Not enforcing a rule on one occasion does not mean it has been given up.
• These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Copyright and content complaints page are the rules for using the site. If something said elsewhere conflicts with them, these pages are the ones that count.
• These terms are published in English. If a translation is published later, the English version governs, except where the law of the country where you live requires otherwise.
